The Broadcasting Board of Deutsche Welle today (15 March) elected Peter Limbourg, presenter and director of information at ProSiebenSat.1 TV GmbH, as the new Director General of Deutsche Welle. Federal Foreign Minister Westerwelle issued the following statement in Berlin:
I extend warm congratulations to Peter Limbourg on his election.
Deutsche Welle is a key partner in presenting a modern image of Germany abroad. I look forward to continuing the very good cooperation between the Federal Foreign Office and Deutsche Welle under Peter Limbourg’s leadership.
The term in office of the current Director General, Erik Bettermann, ends on 30 September 2013. The Director General of Deutsche Welle is elected by the Broadcasting Board for a period of 6 years.
