At the start of the international conference on Yemen, Foreign Minister Westerwelle issued the following statement today (7 March) in London:
“Developments in Yemen have reached a decisive moment. President Hadi and his government have made important progress on reforms and reconciliation, but there are still enormous challenges.
Terrorism and separatist forces still put people’s lives and the country’s cohesion at risk.
We must thus do everything possible to maintain the positive momentum in the transformation process in Yemen.
In recent years, Germany has made great efforts to promote stabilization in Yemen and will continue to do so.
I would like to announce today that the German Government will make available a further 1.5 million euros to support the national dialogue for reconciliation.”
