An invitation from the Federal Government: public hearing on the Federal Government’s Human Rights Report chaired by Markus Löning, Federal Government Commissioner for Human Rights Policy and Humanitarian Aid at the Federal Foreign Office.
Every four years or so, as part of the UN Human Rights Council UPR (Universal Periodic Review) procedure, every United Nations member state comes under scrutiny. Germany first underwent the procedure in February 2009 and will be presenting another report on the human rights situation in Germany in April 2013.
The Federal Government is currently preparing this report, which describes developments over the past four years, and holding a public debate on it with civil society.
The event will take place in the Senatssaal of the Humboldt University in Berlin (Unter den Linden 6, 10099 Berlin) from 10.30 a.m. till 12.30 p.m. on Wednesday, 5 December 2012. Interested members of the public are warmly invited to attend. The hearing will also be broadcast live online at www.auswaertiges amt.de.
