Foreign Minister Westerwelle: do not jeopardize the ceasefire in the Golan Heights
In Vientiane today (5 November), Foreign Minister Westerwelle issued the following statement on the temporary entry of several Syrian tanks into the demilitarized zone in the Golan Heights:
I am concerned about the security incident in the Golan Heights. The United Nations monitored ceasefire in the Golan Heights is of great importance for the peace and stability of the entire region.
For this reason, Syria must refrain from taking any steps that would jeopardize the continuation of the ceasefire in this tense border region.
