Foreign Minister Westerwelle expressed great concern over the continuing violence and difficult humanitarian situation in the eastern part of the country.

The Minister issued the following statement after the meeting:

Any outside interference in the situation in the east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo is unacceptable.
The violence must be stopped through a dialogue between all relevant groups. This must be supported by the region and the international community.
We encourage the Democratic Republic of the Congo to take all possible confidence building measures and implement reforms in order to promote such a dialogue.
