Minister of State Pieper awards Weimar Triangle prize for civil society engagement

28.08.2012 - Press release

On Wednesday (29 August), Cornelia Pieper will give the citation at this year’s awards ceremony for the Weimar Triangle prize for civil society engagement, which is bestowed by the city of Weimar and the Weimar Triangle Association. Pieper is Minister of State at the Federal Foreign Office and Coordinator of German-Polish Intersocietal and Cross-Border Cooperation. Minister of State Pieper issued the following statement:

I’m delighted that cultural and civil society cooperation has now come to the fore in the Weimar Triangle alongside political dialogue.
Numerous trilateral events demonstrate that the public has really caught the “Weimar spark”. This goes to show that the vision embodied in the three-country partnership strategy has become firmly anchored in civil society.
And I feel especially delighted and optimistic seeing that three young people are receiving this award. The young people of our countries are the ones who will in future shape cohesion in Europe and develop new visions.
