22.06.2012 - Press release

Cornelia Pieper, Minister of State at the Federal Foreign Office, will attend the annual session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee on Sunday, 24 June. 21 UNESCO member states will gather in St Petersburg at Russia’s invitation from 24 June to 7 July for the Committee’s 36th session. This year’s agenda includes two submissions from Germany concerning sites to be inscribed on the World Heritage List – the Margravial Opera House in Bayreuth, Bavaria, and the Prince Elector’s Summer Residence in Schwetzingen, Baden-Württemberg.

Germany was re-elected to this important UNESCO Committee last November, after a break of 14 years.
