On Tuesday, 8 May, Guido Westerwelle will meet Shwe Mann, the President of Myanmar’s Parliament, for political talks at the Federal Foreign Office. The main topic will be the continuation of the reform process in Myanmar following the suspension of most of the EU’s sanctions against the country.

Shwe Mann will be accompanied by a delegation of Myanmar parliamentarians, who are visiting Germany at the invitation of the Hanns Seidel and the Friedrich Naumann Foundations.

During his trip to South-East Asia from 29 to 30 April 2012 Federal Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle also visited Myanmar, where he had meetings with Nobel Peace Prize laureate Aung San Suu Kyi as well as President Thein Sein and Foreign Minister Wunna Maung Lwin.
