Federal Government Commissioner for Human Rights Markus Löning today (10 April) left on a three-day visit to Ukraine. To learn more about the human rights situation there, he will be holding talks with civil society representatives, opposition activists and government officials. He will have meetings, too, with relatives and lawyers of Yulia Tymoshenko and Yuriy Lutsenko, a former interior minister.
In connection with Euro 2012, the upcoming European Football Championship in Ukraine, he will also meet Ukraine Football Federation officials.
A visit to a prison in Kyiv is planned as well.
