“Foreign Minister Westerwelle welcomes the Arab League’s decisions regarding the situation in Syria.

In view of the continuing devastating situation in Syria, it is good that the Arab League is taking an active and leading role in efforts to resolve the Syria crisis.

Clearly condemning the violence and taking these steps against the Assad regime sends out a clear signal to the people in Syria.

The proposal for a joint UN‑Arab League observer mission should be swiftly examined in the Security Council.”
