12.02.2012 - Press release

Before leaving for Brazil, Foreign Minister Westerwelle this evening (12 February) issued the following statement:

“South America’s powerhouse Brazil is now an aspiring global player. The purpose of my visits to Brazil, Peru, Panama and Mexico is to develop our partnerships in and with Latin America further and put them onto an even broader footing. We want to further strengthen our economic ties, but we are also keen to promote academic and cultural exchanges. With our Latin American partners I also plan to discuss current issues on the international agenda.”
