US Senator Lieberman is to receive the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany this evening (3 February) for his services to transatlantic relations. Foreign Minister Westerwelle will deliver the citation.

Senator Lieberman has been working to promote transatlantic relations for more than two decades. He has done much to enhance the importance of the Munich Security Conference as a transatlantic forum for security issues. Furthermore, he is involved in Munich Young Leaders, a transatlantic initiative for future decision-makers.
