Foreign Minister Westerwelle condemns Boko Haram attacks

21.01.2012 - Press release

A Federal Foreign Office spokesperson issued today (21 January) the following statement:

Foreign Minister Westerwelle condemns Boko Haram’s latest attacks in northern Nigeria in the strongest possible terms.
Its campaign of bloodshed against Christians and government authorities is a grave threat to peace in this multi-ethnic society.
The country’s leaders are urgently called upon to defend vigorously both the right of Nigerians to practice their religion freely and religious tolerance.
The activities of extremist groups such as Boko Haram must be ended with all possible speed.
