Foreign Minister Westerwelle today issued the following statement on the death of former Czech President Vaclav Havel:
“Vaclav Havel was a trailblazer for European reunification. He was the soul of the Czech revolution. Without him and his courageous words the democratic movements in Central and Eastern Europe would have been inconceivable. I pay tribute to this great champion for democracy and freedom. We share the grief of the Czech nation.”
