Minister of State Hoyer opens Cyber Security Conference

On 13 and 14 December, the Conference “Challenges in Cyber Security – Risks, Strategies and Confidence-Building” will take place at the Federal Foreign Office. The Conference will be opened by Minister of State Hoyer.

This Cyber Security Conference is being organized by the Federal Foreign Office, the Freie Universität Berlin, the Institute for Peace Research and Security Policy at the University of Hamburg and the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR) in Geneva. Approximately 200 experts as well as industry and government representatives from the USA, Russia, China and the EU, among others, will attend.

The Federal Foreign Office is making available a total of 125,000 euro to promote research projects on transparency and humanitarian international law in the cyber sphere and to help fund the Conference at the Federal Foreign Office. The aim of the Federal Government’s cyber foreign policy is to safeguard the Internet as a free and safe virtual environment.
