Federal Government helps earthquake victims in Turkey

Turkey asked Germany for assistance in providing for the needs of the victims of the recent earthquake in the eastern part of the country. With financial support from the Federal Foreign Office the German Red Cross is supplying tents, blankets and tent heaters to the disaster area.

Markus Löning, Federal Government Commissioner for Human Rights Policy and Humanitarian Aid, issued the following statement today (26 October) in Berlin:

Federal Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle expressed his condolences to his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Davutoglu on the day of the earthquake (23 October) and offered German help in dealing with the aftermath of the earthquake.
