Commenting on the result of the general election in Thailand, Federal Foreign Minister Westerwelle today issued the following statement:

”With her clear election victory Ms Shinawatra is taking on great responsibility for ensuring that the path of reform is further pursued and societal cohesion strengthened in Thailand.
I hope that Ms Shinawatra will be able to integrate all major Thai players and successfully follow the path to national reconciliation.
Thailand will continue to be an important partner for Germany both within our close bilateral cooperation and as a member of ASEAN.“
