Federal Minister Westerwelle on the arrest warrant for Muammar Gaddafi

The pre-trial chamber of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague today issued international arrest warrants based on the ICC Rome Statute for Muammar Gaddafi, his son Saif Al-Islam and the chief of intelligence, Abdullah Al-Senussi, for crimes against humanity.

In this connection, Federal Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle issued the following statement today (27 June):

“The decision of the International Criminal Court sends an unmistakable signal to dictators and their helpers that they are not above the law, but will be held responsible for their deeds.”
