Federal Minister condemns attack on Greek Consulate in Berlin
After his telephone conversation with Greek Foreign Minister Droutsas, Federal Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle issued the following statement today on the attack on the Greek Consulate-General in Berlin:
“I utterly condemn the attack on the Greek Consulate. Not only the Federal Government, but the entire German people is scandalized by this deed. I can assure our Greek partners that the German security forces will continue to take all necessary steps to protect the diplomatic and consular missions in Germany.”
In a telephone conversation with his Greek counterpart, the Federal Foreign Minister expressed his personal regret over the incident.
The Criminal Police Office of Land Berlin immediately took up investigations against the masked attackers who threw stones and paint at the Greek Consulate-General on Wittenbergplatz early this morning.
