Federal Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle issued the following statement on today’s attack on a Shiite mosque in the city of Chabahar in south-eastern Iran, which caused many deaths and injuries:
“I condemn in the strongest possible terms this perfidious attack on innocent worshippers. Our thoughts are with the victims and their loved ones. I wish a swift recovery to the many who have been injured. Attacks such as this one show that terrorist violence is a worldwide threat which we must combat through international cooperation.”
Federal Minister Westerwelle offered his condolences to acting Iranian Foreign Minister Salehi in the name of the entire German Government, and passed along their sympathies.
