Welcome
Federal Minister Westerwelle on today’s Nobel Peace Prize award ceremony
Following the award of the Nobel Peace Prize to Liu Xiaobo in absentia, Foreign Minister Westerwelle expressed his regret that the laureate was unable to receive the Prize in person.
In this connection he commented in Freiburg today (10 December) as follows:
“It is regrettable that neither Liu Xiaobo nor any member of his family could be there to receive the Prize. The German Government will continue to campaign vigorously for human rights to be respected throughout the world. It was good that the European Union took a united stand today in Oslo.”
