Welcome
Federal Minister Westerwelle on Rauch exhibition in Paris
Federal Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle joins the painter Neo Rauch in opening an exhibition of the artist’s work in Paris today (7 December). Before his departure the Minister issued the following statement:
“Germany’s international image is shaped not only by our reliability in foreign policy and the strength of our economy. Our cultural diversity is also one of Germany’s signature features for the world. Neo Rauch is one of the major German artists of our time.”
Three paintings by Rauch are to be displayed in the Palais Beauharnais, the residence of the German Ambassador in Paris, from tomorrow through the middle of next year.
The centrepiece of the exhibition is the painting “Der Geborgene”, which Rauch created especially for the Palais Beauharnais.
