Federal Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle today sent his Israeli counterpart Avigdor Liberman a letter of condolence on the ongoing forest fires that have claimed numerous victims in Israel.
The letter read as follows:
“We were deeply shocked and saddened by the news of the devastating forest fires in northern Israel which have claimed so many lives and caused extensive damage. Allow me to extend our sincere condolences to you, your Government and the Israeli people. It fills us with grief to hear the sad news of the deaths of so many people. Our thoughts and deepest sympathy are with the families and friends of the victims. We wish the injured a speedy recovery. In this difficult hour Germany stands shoulder to shoulder with Israel. The German Government will support Israel in dealing with the fire and its consequences.”
