Minister of State Hoyer travels to Malta for bilateral talks

02.11.2010 - Press release

Werner Hoyer, Minister of State at the Federal Foreign Office, travels to Malta this Monday and Tuesday (1 and 2 November 2010) for political talks. He will meet there with the Maltese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tonio Borg, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Michael Frendo, among others. He will also give a speech on European policy at the University of Malta on Tuesday morning.

The talks will focus on current European issues such as economic and monetary policy, relations with European neighbours and aspects of bilateral relations.

Before departing, Minister of State Hoyer issued the following statement in Berlin:

“Malta’s development has been impressive, and not only since its accession to the European Union. I’m pleased to have the opportunity to speak with my Maltese friends about current European issues and to further strengthen our already excellent relations. Malta plays a key role in our relations to our Arab neighbours, not least because of its geographic location and its many centuries of historical experience.”
