Federal Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle today (10 October) sent David Grossman a telegram congratulating the Israeli writer on winning the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade.
The telegram included the following message:
“For many years your writing has been held in the highest regard. It brings me great joy to see that your efforts for peace have now received an honour from Germany.
Israel’s security cannot be ensured without a peace agreement with the Palestinians. Both Israelis and Palestinians must be able to live with dignity. This is a conviction which you share with many people in Germany.
Be assured that Germany will do its part to make the realization of this vision possible.”
