Federal Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle sent a telegram to his Mexican counterpart Patricia Espinosa expressing his sympathy for the victims of the landslide in the state of Oaxaca.

The message reads as follows:

“I was deeply shocked to learn of the disastrous landslide in the Mexican state of Oaxaca which buried many people and caused considerable damage. Allow me to extend my sincere condolences to you, your Government and the Mexican people. Please let us know if the German Government can assist in the search for survivors.

At this difficult time, our thoughts are with the families of the victims, the injured and all those who have lost everything as a result of this disaster. Our deepest sympathy goes out to them.”
