Germany provides Palestinian police with more radios

30.08.2010 - Press release

Today (30 August), Götz Lingenthal, head of Germany’s Representative Office in Ramallah, presented the Palestinian police with 290 two-way radios for patrol cars. With this latest donation Germany has provided the Palestinian police with more than 50 vehicles and more than 800 two-way radios since 2009.

Equipping the Palestinian police with vehicles and two-way radios is a key element in Germany’s support for the development of effective state institutions.

Commenting on today’s hand-over, Federal Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle emphasized how important functioning state structures are for the overall success of the peace process. This Thursday (2 September), direct peace talks are to take place for the first time in more than 20 months.
