Minister of State Hoyer welcomes the international community’s solidarity with Pakistan

20.08.2010 - Press release

Yesterday (19 August) at the UN General Assembly on the flooding in Pakistan, Werner Hoyer, Minister of State at the Federal Foreign Office, expressed Germany’s sympathy for the Pakistan people and the suffering they have endured.

Minister of State Hoyer also reaffirmed the German Government’s readiness to provide assistance and emphasized the generosity of ordinary Germans.

State Minister Hoyer issued the following statement in New York:

“I expressly welcome the clear message of solidarity with the Pakistan people sent by the international community. It’s good I was also able to report the assistance provided by the German people.

It’s crucial we now ensure that the help reaches those in need. The German Government is prepared to provide Pakistan with long-term support beyond the current emergency: a stable and democratic Pakistan is key to stability in South Asia and the entire region.”
