Minister of State Hoyer to travel to New York for the UN special session on Pakistan

The President of the United Nations General Assembly has extended an invitation to a special session on Thursday (19 August) on the situation in the areas of Pakistan struck by flooding. Participants in the special session are to include UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and the Foreign Minister of Pakistan Mahmood Qureshi.

The German Government is to be represented by Werner Hoyer, Minister of State at the Federal Foreign Office.

The aim of the meeting is to improve coordination of the international community’s efforts in Pakistan.
