Federal Foreign Minister Westerwelle to travel to Uganda for the African Union Summit

Federal Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle is going to be in Kampala, Uganda, from 21 to 22 July.

At the African Union Summit, he will give a speech on relations between Germany and the African Union and on German engagement in Africa at the opening meeting of the foreign minister segment on 22 July.

On the fringes of the Summit, the Minister will meet Mr Jean Ping, Chairperson of the African Union Commission.

Talks with the Malawian Foreign Minister Etta Elizabeth Banda are also planned. Malawi currently holds the Presidency of the African Union.

During his visit, Federal Foreign Minister Westerwelle will also conduct bilateral talks with the Ugandan Foreign Minister Sam Kutesa.

A visit to the headquarters of the EU Somalia Training Mission (EUTM) is also scheduled where Somali security forces are being trained by Ugandan and European instructors.
