Westerwelle thanks the South African Foreign Minister for the successful hosting of the FIFA World Cup

Federal Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle thanked the South African Foreign Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane today (12 July) for the successful hosting of the FIFA World Cup 2010.

From the very first day, the Minister felt, South Africa welcomed its guests, including many thousands of Germans, with open arms and warm hearts.

The letter read as follows:

“We are all delighted the World Cup was so safe and peaceful. This was the basis for a first-class and fair tournament that enthralled people across the globe. We will all long remember this brilliant competition.”

Federal Minister Westerwelle also expressed his confidence that South Africa will continue to prove to the world what amazing achievements can be made by it and the entire African continent.
