Federal Minister Westerwelle appeals to the responsibility of gas suppliers and gas transit countries

After the order of the Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko to halt completely the transit of Russian gas to the EU, Federal Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle appealed to the responsibility of all parties involved in the gas dispute between Minsk and Moscow.

He issued the following statement in Berlin today (23 June):

“I am confident the two sides in this dispute will quickly reach an amicable agreement. I assume all those involved are aware of their responsibility both as a gas supplier and as a gas transit country.”
