Federal Minister Westerwelle delivers a speech on the 20th anniversary of the Two plus Four talks

18.06.2010 - Press release

The Federal College for Security Studies (BAKS) is holding a ceremony to mark the 20th anniversary of the Two plus Four negotiations (the second round began on 22 June 1990 in what was then East Berlin). The speakers are current Federal Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle and former foreign ministers Hans-Dietrich Genscher, Roland Dumas and Markus Meckel.

The Two plus Four Treaty is a milestone in the unification of both Germany and Europe. The ceremony brings together politicians and negotiators from the six countries involved in order to undertake a historical retrospective of the talks prior to German reunification.

The event will be held on Tuesday (22 June) from 10.30 a.m. to 1.20 p.m. at the Federal College for Security Studies (BAKS), Schlossanlage Schönhausen, Ossietzkystrasse 44/45, 13187 Berlin. After the ceremony, from 1.30 to 3.00 p.m., a reception will be held at Schloss Schönhausen.
