On hearing about the aircraft accident in India, Federal Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle sent a message of condolence to his Indian counterpart S. M. Krishna today (22 May).

The telegram reads as follows:

“I was deeply shocked to learn of the accident which befell an Air India jet in Mangalore, costing so many lives.

Allow me to extend my sincere condolences to you and to the families and friends of the victims, as well as my hope that the survivors will make a rapid recovery.”
