Federal Foreign Minister Westerwelle pays tribute to Israeli President Shimon Peres

Today, Wednesday (27 January), President Shimon Peres of Israel will be awarded the Walther Rathenau Prize in Berlin. Federal Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle will read out the tribute to the prize-winner and hand the award over to President Peres.

The Walther Rathenau Institute awards the Prize annually for outstanding lifetime achievement in foreign policy. Shimon Peres receives the Prize for his “tireless commitment to peace and fundamental democratic values in the Middle East”.
