Emergency aid for Haiti
The Federal Foreign Office has made available one million euro for emergency humanitarian aid to ease the plight of the victims of the devastating earthquake in Haiti. Federal Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle said: “We offer our sympathy and solidarity to the victims of the earthquake and their families. The German Government will provide the Republic of Haiti with all the assistance it can. ”
Federal Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle reported to the Federal Cabinet on the situation in Haiti. He informed his colleagues of the first concrete assistance provided following the devastating earthquake.
The Federal Foreign Office has reacted immediately by making available one million euro for emergency humanitarian aid to ease the plight of the victims.
The crisis task force set up by the Minister is closely observing the situation in Haiti and will decide on further measures in collaboration with other federal ministries.
