Federal Minister Westerwelle meets ai Secretary General Lüke
Federal Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle today (12 January) met Dr Monika Lüke, the Secretary General of Amnesty International Deutschland, at the Federal Foreign Office.
In the course of their frank and constructive talks, Federal Minister Westerwelle emphasized that for him standing up for human rights was of course part and parcel of German foreign policy.
While geared to national interests, German foreign policy must always be based on values as well, he noted. He was keen to have close contacts with human rights organizations such as Amnesty International.
