Commenting on the hostage-taking at the German School in Thessaloniki, Federal Foreign Minister Westerwelle issued the following statement:

“I am very relieved that the hostage situation ended without violence.

I would like to thank the Greek authorities for their outstanding cooperation as well as the staff of the consulate-general, the Federal Criminal Police Office and the crisis unit for their work.”
