Federal Minister Westerwelle to visit Vienna

Federal Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle will make his inaugural visit to the Republic of Austria tomorrow (Wednesday, 25 November). In Vienna Federal President Heinz Fischer will welcome the Minister for an exchange of views. Preceding that, Federal Minister Westerwelle will have an in-depth discussion with his counterpart, Dr Michael Spindelegger. Both talks will focus on bilateral relations as well as current European and international policy issues.

Later in the afternoon, Federal Minister Westerwelle will visit the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna. There he will have talks with Director General Mohamed ElBaradei and his successor Ambassador Yukiya Amano, Japan’s Permanent Representative to the IAEA, who will take office on 1 December 2009. The topic will be international efforts regarding nuclear non-proliferation, and in particular, the Iranian nuclear programme.
