Günter Gloser, Minister of State for Europe, is travelling today (Friday, 9 October) to Brussels to attend the EU Mediterranean-Gulf Renewable Energy Conference.

At the conference, governments and companies from the EU, the southern Mediterranean region and the Gulf states will discuss the further development and use of renewable energies around the Mediterranean.

The Mediterranean region offers ideal conditions for generating wind and solar energy. By developing renewable energies in the Mediterranean region and linking up the energy grids of all countries concerned, the growing demand for electricity in North Africa and the Middle East, as well as in partner countries, can be met in a way which protects the climate.
