The Federal Foreign Office has made available 500,000 euro to provide emergency aid for the victims of Tropical Storm Ondoy in the Philippines. The funds, which will be made available to German aid organizations, will be used to provide people there with urgently needed basic necessities and hygiene items.

German aid organizations active in the Philippines will work with experienced local partners to ensure that the aid immediately reaches the people who need it.

The rainfall from Tropical Storm Ondoy, which hit the Philippines over the weekend, led to massive flooding which has now claimed the lives of over 200 people. Up to 500,000 people had to be evacuated from their homes.
