Federal Minister Steinmeier sends message of condolence ollowing Russian hydroelectric power station accident

Today (17 August), Federal Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier sent a message of condolence to his Russian colleague Sergey V. Lavrov following the disaster at the hydroelectric power station in Sayano-Shushenskaya.

The letter read as follows:

”I was deeply shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic accident at Sayano-Shushenskaya, Russia’s largest hydroelectric power station, which cost the lives of so many people.

My heartfelt condolences and sympathy go out to you, your Government and the Russian people. At this difficult time, our thoughts are with all those who have lost relatives and friends in this disaster.“
