Federal Minister Steinmeier sends message of condolence following mine accident in the Slovak Republic

Following the mine accident in Handlová, Federal Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier today (11 August) sent a message of condolence to his Slovak opposite number, Miroslav Lajcak.

The letter reads as follows:

”We are shocked and saddened by the reports of the tragic mine accident in Handlová that has caused such appalling loss of life.

Permit me on behalf also of my compatriots to offer you our sincere condolences. We share in the nation’s grief and sense of loss. At this difficult time our thoughts are especially with those who have lost friends and loved ones. We wish those who have been injured a full and speedy recovery.“
