Federal Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier has sent a letter congratulating his new colleague, Yves Leterme, on his appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Belgium.

The letter reads as follows:

“Please accept my sincere congratulations on your appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Belgium.

Germany and the Kingdom of Belgium enjoy long-standing amicable relations. Our bilateral exchange is broad-based and intensive in every sphere. In particular, I would like to point to our close cooperation on European and international issues.
