Federal Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier issued the following statement on the adoption of a UN Security Council resolution on North Korea in Berlin today (12 June):
“I welcome the resolution as a clear message that the international community is no longer prepared to accept the continual provocations from Pyongyang.
I strongly urge the Government in Pyongyang to end its nuclear weapon and missile programmes immediately and to refrain from carrying out further tests. And we expect North Korea to indicate its readiness to resume the six-party talks without delay.
The German Government will continue to do everything it can to support all efforts aimed at helping by peaceful means to defuse the tense situation and to secure peace and stability.”
