Germany contributes towards international assistance for Pakistan

17.04.2009 - Press release

During today's donor conference in Tokyo the international community pledged around $5.3 billion in financial aid for Pakistan, designed to augment the loans already granted by the IMF and to help Pakistan cope with the economic and financial crisis over the next two years (2009-2010).

During the conference Ambassador Bernd Mützelburg, the Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan and head of the German delegation, announced on behalf of the Federal Government that Germany would provide project-tied aid to the tune of 115 million euro for the coming two years. These funds will mainly be used for education, health, energy supply and refugee care.
