Welcome
Foreign Minister Maas on his way to Japan
On his way to Japan, Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said today (21.11.):
Hiroshima is the first stop on the journey to the G20 Foreign Ministers Meeting in Nagoya. I want to see for myself the blind destructive power of nuclear weapons. My Japanese colleague has invited us to a meeting of the Non-Proliferation and Disarmament Initiative after the G20 Foreign Ministers Meeting. I will take with me my own impressions from Hiroshima to again work to promote nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation. After all, if we want to live in a safe world, this can only be a world without nuclear weapons. But for that to happen, we need international cooperation.
Multilateralism is also at the heart of the G20 Foreign Ministers Meeting. As well as Africa as a regional focus, we will also discuss the UN Sustainable Development Goals and free trade as well as the international order. We can only find solutions together – multilaterally. Germany will do its utmost to maintain and further develop the international rules-based order.
