A Federal Foreign Office Spokesperson issued the following statement today (16 March) on the attack on Israelis in the West Bank in which two people were killed and at least two others injured:
We condemn today’s fatal attack near Mevo Dotan settlement in the strongest possible terms. We extend our profound sympathy to the families of the two victims. We hope that those injured will make a swift and full recovery.
The Israeli-Palestinian conflict cannot be resolved by violence. Such crimes, as well as calls for violence, merely lead to more hatred. On the contrary, it is all the more important to preserve the prospects for a lasting solution that will enable all Israelis and Palestinians to live in peace and dignity. The German Government will continue working towards this end.
