A Federal Foreign Office Spokesperson issued the following statement today (5 February) on the deadly knife attack near the Ariel settlement:
The murder of an Israeli in the West Bank fills us with great sorrow and serious concern.
We extend our deepest sympathy to the relatives and friends of the victim.
This is the second such act of bloodshed in the space of a single month.
We condemn all those who welcome this insidious act, thereby inciting further hatred. Violence and calls for violence will not lead to Israelis and Palestinians living side by side in peace and security.
Following the murder of a rabbi on 9 January, this is the second deadly attack to take place in the occupied West Bank this year.
