Political relations are friendly but fairly low‑key. Cooperation focuses on individual development cooperation and cultural projects and work within the United Nations.

Bilateral economic relations between Germany and St. Kitts and Nevis remain at a low level. St. Kitts and Nevis’s main exports to Germany are agricultural products. So far, the country has received only modest revenue in the form of spending by German tourists.

Cooperation and trade accords exist within the framework of the agreements between the European Union and the ACP (Africa, Caribbean and Pacific) states as well as between the EU and CARIFORUM (CARICOM member states plus the Dominican Republic). The further development of trade relations with the EU is being followed closely in St. Kitts and Nevis and in the entire region against the background of the imminent signing of the EU’s new partnership agreement with the states of Africa, the Pacific and the Caribbean (Post‑Cotonou Agreement).

In development cooperation, St. Kitts and Nevis has indirect links with Germany through German agreements with the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), cooperation focusing on sustainable economic development, the promotion of renewable energy and adaptation to climate change.
